Our E-Safety Mission
At Shaftesbury Primary School we believe the internet and technology are wonderful resources, but must be used responsibly and we want to help and support families achieve this.
We have a strong internet filtering system to ensure that when the children are online they are kept safe. Internet safety is regularly spoken about as part of our computing curriculum and we go into even more depth during the annual Internet Safety Day. We have a dedicated ‘Digital Literacy’ section of our curriculum to ensure the pupils understand the importance of staying safe online where we focus on the following areas of e-safety:
- Website safety
- Cyberbullying
- Relationships and communication
- Digital footprint & Reputation
- Social media
- Privacy & Security
- Creative credit & copyright
- Self-Image & Identity
E-Safety Workshop for Parents – March 2024
The following document is from the E-Safety Workshop on the topic of ‘Helping to keep your children safe online’, held on 7th March 2024 during the ‘Books at Bedtime’ event. It covered the following subjects:
- Making parents aware of some of the risks of being online;
- How parents can help their children at home;
- How staff help their children stay safe at school; and

Reporting a Concern Button
CEOP helps any child or young person under the age of 18 who is being pressured, forced or tricked into taking part in sexual activity of any kind. This can be something that has taken place either online or in ‘the real world’, or both. The CEOP Safety Centre has clear information and advice on what can be reported to CEOP, the reporting process and what will happen if you do decide to make a report. You can visit the CEOP Safety Centre and make a report directly to CEOP by clicking the Click CEOP button above.
If you are experiencing online bullying or something else online has worried you please speak to an adult you trust, or you can talk to Childline at any time on 0800 1111 or at www.childline.org.uk.
Alternatively if you wish to speak with someone call 101 or contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040, www.actionfraud.police.uk.
If you have any concerns that a child you know may be a victim of Child Sexual Exploitation report it to Dorset Police on 101 or if you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
You can also report child sexual abuse content and non-photographic child sexual abuse images to the Internet Watch Foundation.
