Author visit
The Year 3/4 students had a truly wonderful and inspiring day meeting and working alongside Lanisha Butterfield, the amazing author of ‘Flower Block’. The children were completely engaged as Lanisha shared her love of storytelling and reading, sparking thoughtful discussions and creative ideas throughout the sessions.
Prior to her visit, the students were tasked with writing persuasive letters to Lanisha explaining some of the current challenges around reading in our school, while also reflecting on the potential benefits of her visiting and working with them. Through this experience, the children were able to see those benefits come to life, as meeting a real author, hearing her story, and learning alongside her helped make reading feel exciting, meaningful, and fun. It was a powerful experience that strengthened their confidence as readers and writers and has already helped to grow a renewed love of reading across the year group. 📚✨
