Super scientists!
On Tuesday 3rd Feb, Year 5 and 6 students had the exciting opportunity to take part in the Merck Curiosity Cube workshop, a hands-on session all about drug discovery and how medicines are developed. The workshop introduced pupils to the fascinating world of pharmaceuticals, showing them step by step how scientists research and create new medicines to treat illnesses.
One of the highlights was learning about artificial intelligence (AI) and its growing role in drug development. Students discovered how AI can help researchers predict how molecules will behave, speeding up the discovery of potential new treatments. The interactive activities gave children a chance to build their own molecules, helping them understand the science behind chemical structures in a fun, engaging way.
To make the experience even more memorable, all participants got to wear lab coats and safety goggles, just like real scientists. Many students commented on how exciting it felt to dress up and handle scientific tools, and they were thrilled to take their coats and goggles home as keepsakes.
